Is Zoho, next 37Signals?

Posted in Chirag Chamoli by Chirag Chamoli on September 30, 2008

Zoho continues to carve a niche for itself among the giants in the software-as-a-service market. The three-year old online application suite, which started off as a basic online version of Word, has grown to 1.2 million registered users and 500,000 unique monthly logins. I think we have another 37Signal revelotion, coming up.

The new Marketplace is here and launches officially today after a press leak two weeks ago. The company says that over 100,000 applications have already been built on its Creator platform, most of which are available to all users. Those applications are not being moved over the the Marketplace automatically, but developers will not have the option to do so, and either charge for the apps or give them away for free. Zoho is giving 100% of the fees to developers. There’s also an area of Marketplace that lets users request new apps and features, and developers can choose to respond and create what’s requested.

Ten Paradoxical Traits of Creative People

Posted in Chirag Chamoli by Chirag Chamoli on September 30, 2008

Psychology Today Says

When we’re creative, we feel we are living more fully than during the rest of life. The excitement of the artist at the easel or the scientist in the lab comes dose to the ideal fulfillment we all hope to get from life, and so rarely do. Perhaps only sex, sports, music, and religious ecstasy–even when these experiences remain fleeting and leave no trace–provide a profound sense of being part of an entity greater than ourselves. But creativity also leaves an outcome that adds to the richness and complexity of the future.

  1. Creative people have a great deal of physical energy, but they’re also often quiet and at rest.
  2. Creative people tend to be smart yet naive at the same time.
  3. Creative people combine playfulness and discipline, or responsibility and irresponsibility.
  4. Creative people alternate between imagination and fantasy, and a rooted sense of reality.
  5. Creative people trend to be both extroverted and introverted.
  6. Creative people are humble and proud at the same time.
  7. Creative people, to an extent, escape rigid gender role stereotyping.
  8. Creative people are both rebellious and conservative.
  9. Most creative people are very passionate about their work, yet they can be extremely objective about it as well.
  10. Creative people’s openness and sensitivity often exposes them to suffering and pain, yet also to a great deal of enjoyment.

"Cloud computing is a trap", warns GNU founder Richard Stallman, in Interview with Guardian

Posted in Chirag Chamoli by Chirag Chamoli on September 30, 2008

The concept of using web-based programs like Google’s Gmail is “worse than stupidity”, according to a leading advocate of free software. Cloud computing – where IT power is delivered over the internet as you need it, rather than drawn from a desktop computer – has gained currency in recent years. Large internet and technology companies including Google, Microsoft and Amazon are pushing forward their plans to deliver information and software over the net. But Richard Stallman, founder of the Free Software Foundation and creator of the computer operating system GNU, said that cloud computing was simply a trap aimed at forcing more people to buy into locked, proprietary systems that would cost them more and more over time.

“It’s stupidity. It’s worse than stupidity: it’s a marketing hype campaign,” he told The Guardian.

Google 'vs' Microsoft, Business As Usual

Posted in Chirag Chamoli by Chirag Chamoli on September 29, 2008

Google and Microsoft are at it again. Now for a change Google is the bad one and Microsoft is the getting  cookies form the press, for being a good. Ya I almost forgot yahoo is in the game too, hurray. Now all of them are fighting over google trying and being the monopoly In Search Advertising. By the way microsoft wanted to buy off Yahoo few months back.

IMHO if Google gets Yahoo, Microsoft will never be able to be that defend,  you know no innovation and no more able leadership (Steve Ballmer, sorry Bill Gates was way better ) . And then Google will be free to charge monopoly prices to advertisers and share next to nothing of that revenue with publishers(That include WordPresser…also).

That’s why killing this deal is very important. It’s not about anyone’s share prices Google, Yahoo or Microsoft. It’s about maintaining a healthy Internet and spirit of internet.

The time does tire you down. It also dilutes the belif and courage you once had to fight and take over the world then you think, if.
